Tutorial on Popsicle Card

Since this Popsicle card is way to cute, I thought I would do a Tutorial on it. Once again I have to thank Patty B for her inspiration on this adorable card. It would make a great birthday invitation, a kid's birthday card or invite to a summer party!!

Gather your Supplies:

You will need a Paper Trimmer, Card Stock (I'm using Chocolate Chip/Whisper White), Slot Punch, Tart and Tangy Stamp set, Scallop Punch, 1 3/8" and 1 1/4" Circle Punch. Markers, Popsicle stick. Also I used but not pictured was glue, Family Phrases, and Corner Rounder Punch.

Step 1:

Cut your card stock to 5" by 5". Score at 2 1/2" and fold.

Step 2:

 

Using the Corner Rounder Punch, round the 2 bottom corners and the top left corner(the corner on the fold). You should have 3 corner round and 1 square.

Here is a picture with the 3 corner rounded.

Step 3:

To look like you have taken a bite from your Popsicle, we are going to use the Scallop Punch. Unfortunately you can't punch both paper together, so using the Scallop Punch, punch the first top layer. Then do the same with the bottom layer, I just lined them up and then punch out the bottom.  You can make the bite(scallop punch) as big or as little as you want.

Step 4:

Sorry for the picture being dark, I think it was the reflection off the paper trimmer. Take your Whisper White card stock, cut a piece 2 1/2" by 3 3/4". You are going to round the 3 same corners as above and punch out a bite. Tip: Line the White up with your card stock. Trace the scallop, and then punch out using your trace as a guide. See picture below.

 

 

Now you should have 2 pieces that look like this.

Step 5:

To hold your Popsicle stick in place, you need to create slots. You do this using your slot punch. For the first punch, push your slot punch as far as it will go up the card stock and punch. The next slot hole, just move your punch down a bit but not close to the bottom either. You don't want your holes close together or it will ripe the paper when you added the Popsicle stick.

Here is how it looks after.

Slide your Popsicle card thru the slots.

Now glue on your Whisper White card stock piece.

Step 6:

Now, if you want to add a fruit onto the front of your card, you are going to use the Tart and Tangy set. I coloured in a strawberry using Old Olive, Real Red and Chocolate Chip markers. Don't forget to huff on your stamp before you stamp on your Whisper White card stock. I colour the bottom half red and then colour half of the red with Chocolate Chip to give it the look of a Chocolate Dipped Strawberry.

Punch out your fruit using a 1 1/4" circle punch.

Punch out an accent colour for your card stock using a 1 3/8" circle punch.

Glue your fruit onto your accent circle.

Step 7:

Add your fruit to the front of your card. I stamped Happy Birthday from Family Phrases with Chocolate Chip ink onto the front of the card. I gave you a side view, as my card was popping up when I was trying to take a picture.

Both of my girls thought it look funny with the fruit on the front of the card. Here is a picture without the fruit and I stamped the saying inside the card. They both said that this looked like a real Popsicle.

I hope you enjoyed your tutorial on this adorable card. You could make an assortment of colours for Popsicles like Lime, Cherry, Orange, Grape and the list goes on.
