High Tide Swoosh Technique

Hello,

Last week, while checking out my friend Patty's blog, I came across this cool technique that she showed cased. I thought it really cool and wanted to give it a try. When I saw the technique, I vision a card made with the High Tide stamp set and the swoosh technique behind it. 

The swoosh technique was done to create my water in the background behind my lighthouse!! This is such a cool technique and I can't wait to share the other card with you!! 

The colours that I used were: Soft Sky, Pool Party and Marina Mist! I love how it looks like the tide is rolling in towards the shoreline.

I stamped the Highlight in Real Red with the solid image and Smoky Slate with the outline image. This creates the shadow effect on the lighthouse! My sand was stamped in Soft Suede and then I add some Old Olive grass randomly over the sand.

Want to recreate my card, you will need the following products: 

• Pool Party Card stock - 5 1/2 by 8 1/2, score at 4 1/4

Eastern Palace - Aqua Wash Background Technique

Happy Monday!

I'm excited to share my project with you today!! It's one that we did this month in our technique class. The ladies loved it and it's so simply and easy to do!!! 

I wanted to showcase the new Eastern Beauty stamp set and Eastern Medallions Thinlits Dies that you can get as part of the Eastern Palace Premier Bundle that is available from May 1st to May 31st. This new suite will be available in the new catalogue that starts on June 1. 

Of course,  I had to use the new Lemon Lime Twist Incolour. I have to admit that I can't stop using this colour especially when it's paired with Black!! OMG..this colour combination is heaven!!! 

Did you notice that light colour behind my words? That is the cool Aqua Wash Technique that we did. It's so easy and simply to do. I actually created a photo tutorial on how to do technique for you.

High Tide - Reflection Card

Happy Monday!

We are in a for a big snow storm over the next few days, which means there is more time for us to stamp!! Hopefully this is the last of the winter weather..I'm ready for warmer weather and sunshine!! 

My card today is one that we made last week in my technique class! We learned how to do the Reflection technique. I saw this technique on social media and thought...wow that looks hard but actually it's the opposite..it's so simply and easy!!!

Spooky Fun Sponge Technique Class

Thank you for all the sweet comments last week on my project that I share with you for the SU Trip Achiever's Blog Hop. Many of you have asked how I did the sky and I'm excited to share that we will be learning this fun technique this week in Technique Class on Thursday night!!

What a sneak peak at one of the projects you will be learning how to make? The best thing about technique class is we learn a technique, create two projects with that technique and then we create a reference card and sample sheets so that you will always have the sample/instructions on how to make that technique again in the future.

Technique Class Details - Fresh Fruit

Happy Friday,

I'm excited to share with you the samples for my upcoming technique class. It's all about Masking. I was inspired by one of the card samples that Stampin' Up! shared in our latest Stampin Success Quarterly magazine. One of our amazing concept artist created this beautiful card with the Fresh Fruit stamp set and she used the masking technique to highlight fruit sitting in front of each other on a card. So this was the inspiration for my upcoming technique class. 

At our class, we will learn how to do the Masking Technique and then use this technique to create two more samples and a reference sheet so that you can reference this technique in the future.

Snow Place Shaker Card

I have another shaker card to share with you. This was the other project that we made in our technique class last week. Our focus for the night was how to create Shaker Cards!! As I was sharing with you yesterday, they are so quick and easy to create especially with the new Foam Adhesives Strips. 

It's been so hot and humid here lately and we are in for another blast the next few days. So I was trying to think of "cool" thoughts and thought it would be fun to create a Christmas Shaker card with one of my favourite stamp sets and matching framelits from last year Holiday Catalogue. I was SO happy when I saw it in new catalogue this year as that means I get to use my favourite "Snowman" again for another year!!

When I was dreaming of this card in my mind, I knew that I wanted to stick with the cooler colours so went with Dapper Denim, Silver and Whisper White.

This card came together very quickly with the help of the new Layering Circle Framelits and my best friend the Big Shot!!! It you have not seen these new framelits collection, I would encourage you to check them out as there are multiple sizes and layers that you can mix and match for you projects!

Confetti Celebration Shaker Card

Last week in our technique class, we learned how to make shaker cards. I used to hate making shaker cards as they were alot of work BUT not anymore they are so quick and easy especially with our new Foam Adhesive strips. These new adhesive strips come in a sheet with already cut out strips, all you do is remove, stick and peel off the adhesive part and you are ready to go!

 

My project today was creating using the Confetti Celebration stamp set. I actually ordered this set during pre-order and I can tell you it's my go to stamp for creating when celebrating birthdays.

 

 

As you can see I'm loving the colour combination of Flirty Flamingo, Sahara Sand and Whisper White. This time I added a little bit of Silver accent to the card as I thought it would be the perfect fit for my metallic sequins.

I also added the scraps punched out from my Sprinkles punch to my shaker card. We found when creating the card, the more sequins and scraps punch out you had the better, it helped from the sequins getting stuck to the foam when you shook it.

Drapery Fold

If you are a follower on Pinterest and love to search Stampin' Up! idea's then you might have seen this cool technique in your feed. I'm talking about the Drapery Technique. This cool technique is so easy and fun to do and the best part is there are many different variations out there!!

At our last technique class, I showed the ladies how to do this technique using the Botanical Gardens Designer Series Paper. The really neat thing about this technique is that it's designed to show off designer series paper!!

 

When I was designing this class, I decided that I wanted to showcase the Retiring Incolours and the retiring Botanical Gardens Designer Series Paper.

Did you know that Stampin' Up! listed the coordinating colours on the back of the cardboard that comes with the designer series paper packs? I first picked my pattern paper and then pulled the colours from there. I used the following colour combination on my project today!!

Come create with me and give the Drapery Technique a try!

Horizontal Drapery – cut paper at 3 by 7 ¾, using a Simply Score tool, score at 3, 3 ½, 5, 6. Turn a put a small pencil mark at 1 ½ (across the 3” side). Use Stampin' Trimmer to diagonal Cut from the 1 1/2" mark to the 3" score line.  Fold back and forth at each score line - like a fan fold.  Adhere to card front and trim off excess paper.

Vertical Drapery – cut paper at 3 by 6, using a Simply score  Tool, score at ¾, 1, 1 ¾. 2, 2 ¾, 3, 3 ¾, 4, and follow the same directions as above.

At each of my technique classes, we always make 2 cards using the same technique and we go home with a references card. This way you always have the direction to make the technique again along with a sample to refresh your memory on what it looked liked.

Another Butterfly Swash Technique

Hello,

Thank you for all the sweet comments on my Butterfly Swash card that I showed you this week. I have another card to show you using this technique. Both cards used the same technique but they are done two different ways.

My favourite part of this card is the bright colours as I feel it makes this card pop and just looking at it makes me happy!!

Another Way to do the Butterfly Swash Technique:

Stamps the three swashes on the plain white card front first,

 then runs it through the Big Shot with the butterfly die-cut.

This version requires a second piece of plain white to place behind it.

 

My greeting on my card is from the Apple of my Eye stamp set. I'm sad that this stamp set is leaving us at the end of May. I think this might be one that I might hold on to as it's one that you can use for any occasions!!
